These famous mills of Don Quixote (Quijote in Spanish) are located not far from the city of Toledo, ancient capital of Spain, in the region of La Mancha.
The route of the mills is famous because it is the scene of the adventures of the knight Don Quijote. It is the most famous character of Cervantes.
Visit to the mills of El Romeral. An hour's drive from Madrid, it is a small village with just over 600 inhabitants. You can admire its 4 windmills. Then, 8 minutes away by car, a second stop in Tembleque. In addition to its 3 windmills (one of the 3 is in bad condition because it is private) you can visit the big square of this small village of 2.000 inhabitants. It has been declared an asset of cultural interest for being one of the most beautiful in the region of La Mancha.
The best time of the day is at the end of the day. Not too late if you want to visit the mills, but not too early to stay and wait for the sunset. There are really beautiful colors.
