On the Etang de Leucate, as soon as the wind blows, windsurfers can be seen enjoying themselves, against a magnificent backdrop of the Pyrenean chain of peaks.
The Canigou massif (sometimes spelled in Catalan: Canigó[2]) is a mountain range in the French Pyrenees. Its highest peak is the Pic du Canigou, at 2,784 meters above sea level. The Canigou massif is located in the eastern Pyrenees, in the Pyrénées-Orientales department, in the extreme south of France. It is the closest Pyrenean massif to the Mediterranean Sea, giving it a dominant position, visible for most of the photo from the étang de Salses-Leucate, Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque.Catalogne historique (Catalonia in Spain and the Pyrénées-Orientales department in France) and from the sea.
The Canigou massif is the French mountain with the best examples of staggered vegetation zones: at the foot, agaves and orange trees; at the top, alpine plants.
