Saint-Nectaire is a French commune located in the department of Puy-de-Dôme, in the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. It owes its name to its church, dedicated to Saint Nectaire (Nectaire d'Auvergne, 3rd and 4th centuries). Saint-Nectaire gave its name to the famous cheese, the saint-nectaire.
Dominating the village, the Mount Cornadore shelters the old town of Saint-Nectaire-le-Haut and its Romanesque church. Admire the sculpted capitals that we see on this majestic and impressive picture! We can only be seized with admiration in front of this work in dark Volvic stone which gives an impressive play of light and shadow!
This photo was requested from me and taken from a complete report before the interior of the church was entirely repainted, taking away its cachet forever. This photo is a testimony, you will never see it like this again!
