POLAR BEAR SPITZBERGEN NORWAY ARTICA
The Arctic Circle is the only place in the world where you can see this magnificent creature in its natural habitat.
Several countries lie north of the Arctic Circle, but the Norwegian islands of Svalbard, located 1,050 km from the North Pole, are among the top three places on the planet for polar bear viewing.
According to the Norwegian Polar Institute, Svalbard now has 3,500 polar bears. On the largest island, Spitsbergen, the number of polar bears has been growing steadily in recent years. This is good news because, in 2008, these animals were classified as endangered species because of the endangerment of their habitat.
