Faroe islands - foroyar
The beautiful, remote village of Gásadalur lies on the island of Vágar. Its name means "Valley of the Geese".
For many years, it was the only village in the archipelago not connected by road. Before the tunnel was built, the only way to reach Gásadalur was on foot or by helicopter. Since 2005, the 1,410-meter-long tunnel has been open to all, especially to the twenty or so people who live here year-round.
Its waterfall, Múlafossur, is one of the most emblematic sights on the Faroe Islands.
