Astronaut David R. Scott, Commanding Officer, stands beside the American flag deployed during the Extravehicular Activity (EVA) at the Apollo 15 lunar surface at the Hadley-Apennine landing site. The flag was deployed towards the end of the EVA-2. The lunar module "Falcon" is partially visible on the right. Hadley Delta, in the background, is about 4,000 meters (about 13,124 feet) above the plain. The base of the mountain is about 5 kilometers (about 3 statute miles). This photo was taken by astronaut James B. Irwin, pilot of the lunar module.
