Franco Origlia

Music

Franco Origlia was born in Rome, 1956, and studied at the DAMS University (Institute of Communication and Entertainment) in Bologna. Based in Rome, he worked from 1988 to 2001 as Italian correspondent photographer for the French agency Sygma, and in 2002 he began his collaboration with Getty Images. Since 1988 he has been one of the few permanent photographers accredited to the Vatican. His photographs have been published in major international magazines. In Italy he has collaborated directly with Epoca, Panorama, Corriere della Sera Magazine, l'Espresso and Ventiquattro. From 1997 to 2001 he created more than fifty covers for the Gazzetta dello Sport Magazine (the best-selling weekly Italian sports newspaper). Franco Origlia has published two books: Max Biaggi" (Publisher: Leonardo Arte; 1999 English and Italian editions, Sponsors: PhilipMorris and Q8 Petrol) and "InterCampus, Sport, Passion, Commitment" (Publisher: Skira 2012). Since 1997 he has been following InterCampus, a flexible and long-term social and cooperation programme promoted by FC Internazionale Milano that involves 10,000 needy children in 21 foreign countries. In his own words: I consider myself a craftsman of photography, I have traveled and I am traveling in all directions of editorial photography: sports, news, entertainment, portraits, illustration ... sometimes even corporate and advertising, always trying to reconcile the needs of the customer with my point of view. For now, I don't like to celebrate myself with exhibitions or by participating in competitions, I prefer to continue to take more and more photos that can reach a wider and more popular audience. Whether they are magazines, newspapers, or banners, it doesn't matter where it is by them that I want to be judged (even though by now almost everyone will ignore the author's signature). Since 1985 I have continued to pursue this profession with great passion and tenacity, but as dear Henri Cartier Bresson said "I am still an amateur, but I am no longer a beginner".
