Description of the photograph

Nepal. Kathmandu Royal or Durbar Square. Here the wooden figures of the Hindu god, Shiva - widely venerated in the valley - and his wife Parvati look down on the crowd of the temple of Navadurga. The rectangular plan of the temple reflects that the building is dedicated to Nava Durga, a group of nine goddesses whose images live inside on the ground floor.
