Ugo Tognazzi became famous to French audiences thanks to his role as Renato Baldi in the film series La Cage aux folles with Michel Serrault. Ugo Tognazzi began his career in the theatrical world and entered the world of the 7th art in the 1950s. Then, He played in many popular comedies. In 1968, he joined the cast of Roger Vadim's mythical "Barabella", with Jane Fonda, before joining Marco Ferreri for La Grande bouffe in 1973, with Marcello Mastroianni and Philippe Noiret. Director Dino Risi was one of those who believed in Tognazzi, cultivating his talent in the films "Les Monstres", 1963 and "Les Nouveaux Monstres" in 1977. He was also Dino Risi's favourite actor during the 1960s and 1970s. Ugo Tognazzi's career includes more than 150 films shot mainly in Italy. His great popularity was based on his ability to always renew his acting on the screen with accuracy and naturalness. Therefore, Ugo Tognazzi has given rise to many unforgettable performances. In 1981, he won the award for Best Actor for his role in "The Tragedy of a Ridiculous Man". 1990 was the year of his last appearance on the big screen, in the film "The Riders of Glory" with Claudia Cardinale and Harvey Keitel. Ugo Tognazzi died in Rome on 27 October 1990 at the old of 68.
