Frozen vessel in the Ummannaq fjord by the Ummannaq city. Climate change makes the economies of institutions even more precarious. It extended the periods in winter and spring when ice is too thick for boats to leave ports but not large enough to support sleds or snowmobiles. Dangerous ice affects fishing, but it is more harmful to hunters in the area.
