Gina Lollobrigida was born on July 4, 1927 in Italy. The little girl lived a peaceful childhood in a modest family living in a small house in the municipality of Subiaco. Attracted by the world of art at a very early age, she moved to Rome at the age of 17 and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts. Her new life in the Italian capital is hectic. The young woman played her first roles as an actress in plays and participated in beauty contests. In 1947, at the age of 20, she won third place in the election of Miss Italy. Her film career began in 1946 with Ricardo Freda's The Black Eagle, in which she played a minor role. It was not until 1951 that she got her first role. In the meantime, her husband, Milko Skovic, became her impresario, and helped her to get bigger roles. The 1950s are crowned with success for Gina Lollobrigida who plays notably in Fanfan la Tulipe by Christian-Jaque, Notre Dame de Paris by Jean Delannoy where she plays Esmeralda, then Salomon and the Queen of Sheba directed by King Vidor.
