Michael Portillo

Passionate about travel and in perpetual quest for a change of scenery, I travel the world whenever the opportunity presents itself. From the Icelandic glaciers to the desert of Oman, passing by the Slovenian mountains or the mythical Bali, I am constantly looking for the most authentic experiences. The link between photography and travel is obvious to me to such an extent that I took my motto from it: "I travel to photograph, just as I photograph to make travel". My explorations in nearly 50 countries, on 5 continents, have been a great source of photographic inspiration and it is this vision of the world that I aspire to share through my photos. When traveling, the photo subjects are endless but my sensitivity is oriented towards landscape photography with the aim of highlighting the beauty and diversity of nature. Scenes of life, portraits of populations or even wildlife are other elements that I like to capture during my explorations. Whether traveling or in photography, I like to take the time, take the time to discover a country, take the time to build a photographic series. Thus, some of my photo series have been in progress for several years now, such as "Ice lands", "Portraits of Asia (s)" or "The Anonymous". When I am not reporting I am a photo trainer for Graine de Photographe, the leader of photo courses in France, and I organize photo trips in Slovenia to Lisbon, on the Arcachon Basin and to Bali, in partnership with the Worldway Photo and Bali Autrement travel agencies.
