Michael Portillo

Passionate about travel and constantly seeking a change of scenery, I travel the world as soon as the opportunity arises. From Icelandic glaciers to the desert of Oman passing by the Slovenian mountains or the mythical Bali, I constantly seek the most authentic experiences. The link between photography and travel is obvious to me to such an extent that I drew my motto from it: "I travel to photograph, just as I photograph to travel". My explorations in nearly 50 countries, on 5 continents, have been a great source of photographic inspiration and it is this vision of the world that I aspire to share through my photos. When traveling, the photo subjects are endless, but my sensitivity turns to landscape photography with the aim of highlighting the beauty and diversity of nature. Life scenes, portraits of populations and even wildlife are other elements that I like to capture during my explorations. Whether traveling or in photography I like to take the time, take the time to discover a country, take the time to build a photographic series. So, some of my photo series have been going on for several years now, such as "Terres glacées", "Portraits d'Asie (s)" or "Les Anonymes". When I'm not reporting, I am a photo trainer for Graine de Photographe, the leader in photo courses in France, and I organize photo trips to Slovenia in Lisbon, in the Arcachon Basin and in Bali, in partnership with Worldway Photo and Bali Autrement travel agencies.
