A group of men from the Fulani tribe of Niger perform a traditional dance as part of a welcoming ceremony on the arrival of a United Nations flight at Maradi airport, Niger, on 16 August 2018. Several UN agencies (FAO, WFP and IFAP) as well as the Government of Niger and other partners visited the agro-pastoral region of Maradi in Niger to understand the context and local priorities, particularly the needs of women and other vulnerable groups in the region. In Niger, as in many other regions of the Sahel, climate shocks have led to recurring droughts that have had devastating effects on already vulnerable populations in the region.
