This is one of the many punches I took during my stay in the abandoned city of Pripyat in Ukraine. Want to know all about the history of the Chernobyl accident? Check out my blog: https://romanrobroek.nl/visit-abandoned-city-pripyat/ My real thought of seeing the abandoned city of Pripyat for the first time was the size. I expected a big city with many buildings, but it was massive and there was so much to see. Most of the buildings were still in very good shape and many details remain. They had it all. Cinema, schools, kindergartens (15!), Sports venues, a post office, a supermarket, hotels, many shops, a hairdresser and so on. Walking and driving around town it felt very surreal. It's a big area with so many abandoned buildings. It is easy to imagine that over 50,000 people lived here.
