This is a photo I took at the abandoned hospital 126 in Pripyat - Chernobyl. This is the hospital where the first injured were taken after the power plant disaster. In the basement of this building you can still find the firefighters' dresses. Seeing the abandoned city of Pripyat for the first time, I was struck by its size. I expected a big city with a lot of buildings, but this one was huge and there was so much to see. Most of the buildings were still in fairly good condition and many details have been preserved. They had it all. A cinema, schools, kindergartens (15!), Sports fields, a post office, a supermarket, hotels, many shops, a hairdressing salon, etc. While walking and driving around the city, I felt a very surreal feeling. It's such a huge area with so many abandoned buildings. It is easy to imagine that over 50,000 people lived here.
