Sud Ouest

Presentation of the newspaper Sud Ouest The newspaper Sud Ouest was created August 29, 1944 by Jacques Lemoîne. The founder and his successors have worked to make their newspaper a reference medium, both popular and unifying. Sud Ouest responds to the primordial need for local information while fully assuming the requirements of a complete newspaper open to national and international life thanks to its Parisian editorial staff and correspondents abroad. Independent press company, Sud Ouest is the 2nd largest regional newspaper in France. Spread over seven departments (Gironde, Landes, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Lot-et-Garonne, Dordogne, Charente and Charente-Maritime), it is read every day by more than one million readers and the site "sudouest.fr Has established itself as the reference for local information on the region. The archives of the newspaper The photographic collection of the newspaper Sud Ouest dates back to the origins of the newspaper, and even a little bit earlier since it contains photographs from the 1930s. It is composed of several hundred thousand photographs, some of which are sheltered at museum of Aquitaine and within the association Mémoire de Bordeaux. There are photographs in all forms, tracing the history of photographic processes: glass plates, 6x6 negatives and of course digital files. For several years now, the Sud Ouest Group has taken steps to digitize its archives, which has already digitized more than 80,000 photographs. Difficult to choose among the 80,000 digitized photographs available! The ArtPhotoLimited and South West teams work together to select one part, the best photographs. Photographs that represent the main themes of the newspaper since its origins: news (and therefore history), sports, local life, urbanism, culture, wine and the art of living.
